At Specialeyes Eyecare in West London we provide a range of contact lenses. Contact lenses are not a one size fits all solution therefore it is important that you are assessed by qualified optometrist. Your eye health is our main priority therefore your eyes need to be assessed first and based on your optical heath, prescription and needs the optometrist can tailor a package to fit your lifestyle requirements.
We also stock some lenses in our store and can supply lenses on the same day, subject to availability. We provide all types of contact lenses including monthly, dailies, coloured and extended range contact lenses. We also supply hard lenses and soft lenses.
These are the most common type of lenses in use today. As the name says, they are made from soft and flexible plastics that makes them easy to adjust to and more comfortable than other types of lenses.
This type of lens is for those who want to change their eye colour and see at the same time. Currently they are only available in sphere lenses. If you have astigmatism and want colour contact lenses please speak to our optometrist to best advise you on a suitable option.
This type of lens was the first contact lens to be developed. It is made from a rigid plastic that is carefully moulded to the shape of your cornea. This type of contact lens is available in a high range of prescriptions and are only supplied as yearly lenses.
For those with extremely strong prescriptions, we provide Mark' Ennovy custom extended range contact lenses; for those with strabismus or scarring, we offer Cantor & Nissel aesthetic contact lenses.
First of all, you will need a valid eye test prescription. A contact lens test cannot be completed without this. You will then need to book yourself in for a contact lenses appointment online or by calling us.
When you come in we will do the following:
1- Pre screening - This is where we will measure your corneal curvature which helps us to assess which lenses are suitable for a comfortable and good fitting.
2- Contact lens Exam - The health of the surface of you eye will be examined by the optometrist to determine the most suitable lens to be selected to meet your needs.
3- Teach - If you are new to contact lenses we will teach you how to apply and remove contact lenses safely. We will also advise you on how to care for your contact lenses and about any risks involved in this.
4- Trial – we will offer you free trial contact lenses to try out (subject to availability)
5- Order – We have a large contact lens stock in store therefore we could supply contact lenses on the same day. This depends on your prescription.
The simple answer is yes. With the latest advancements in contact lens manufacture, it is now possible to get contact lenses for people with astigmatism.
If you require rigid gas permeable lenses and you have a slight astigmatism then it may be possible not to get astigmatism lenses as the lens can correct it.
Contact lenses are also made in astigmatism form. These lenses are called ’Toric’ contact lenses (They are available in rigid gas permeable lenses and in soft lenses). These lenses are used to correct the astigmatism to give better vision.
No. It is impossible for contacting lens to get stuck behind the eye because there is a physical barrier that prevents anything from going to the back of the eye.
Contact lenses may get dislodged from its position within the eye and slide underneath the eyelid. If this happens then all you have to do is slide it back to its position. You would be shown this when you come in for your contact lens test.
It is very important that you do not take the lens out straight away because you may cause more damage to your eyes.
It is important that your eyes are hydrated before you attempt to remove the lens. Try to apply lens comfort eyedrops or lubricating eyedrops until your eye surface becomes moist. The lenses will then become more mobile easier to remove.
If you have any continuous problems, discomfort or redness you would need to see your optician as soon as possible.
If you require to wear lenses for extended hours, throughout the day, then please let optometrist know so that they can find you a lens that is suitable for your needs.
